US government bans Kenyan Minister William Ruto
March 19th, 2009
The US has decided to discipline Kenya and to make the point clear has now decided to refuse Kenyan Minister of Agriculture William Ruto entry visa to their country.
Many top politicians are still waiting to see if their names will also be included in the list of rejecties.
When API today contacted the US government to find out how many ministers in Kenya will now be refused entry visas, into the US, it was confirmed that Mr Ruto and two other ministers, Martha Karua and James Orengo are on the list.
Many will wonder why the US has taken this decision at this time, but analysts confirm that the US are punishing Ruto because of the maize scandal in Kenya. When it comes to the reasons as to why Karua is in the list, the US officials say, she has been a negative impact in the coalition government and is seen as one who is against Raila Odinga, the present serving Prime Minister.
The US official did not want to say much on Orengo. The only thing the US officials were willing to confirm is that Orengo has been involved in corruption.
