Mama Lucy has more guts than the entire Coalition Government put together.

By Ibrahim NdamweMama Lucy is no hands-off First Lady who sits on the fence. She speaks her mind and furiously takes her ‘enemies’ head-on irrespective of whether they are holed up in an ambassadorial residence or State House.
When she fires salvos, no one returns fire. Photojournalist Clifford Derrick did make a feeble attempt, yes, but only from some unknown hideout where he was reportedly holed up in exile. Even the fearsome Njuri Ncheke (Meru council of elders) has made no attempt, at least not publicly, to collect the goats that are allegedly owed to them on account of a perceived cultural slight on a junior elder.
Thus, when she publicly blasted the Internal Security minister and the entire provincial administration for grovelling incompetence, few recognised the sheer guts it takes to lock horns with an establishment that enjoys the legal monopoly of violence — teargas canisters, stray bullets and all.
As she fumed, a few cheeky public officials, who should have known better, were smiling and chuckling silently behind her back. But had she turned around, the gigglers would have sprinted for dear life. Tough as nails, feared like hell, that’s the First Lady.
Granted, the issues she raised would have been best dealt with by the kitchen cabinet or at the presidential poolside with the man of the house. But wouldn’t it be nice for
Kenya to have a president like that? A fiery general who publicly lashes at Members of Parliament, the Judiciary, police, ministers for Agriculture, Energy, Transport and the whole caboodle of incompetence, avarice and sloth that (mis)manages this country?Raw rage
Wouldn’t it be great for the President to routinely and publicly demand for explanations — in writing no less — from the many public servants whose negligence and incompetence causes Kenyans to wallow in pain, suffering and death?
Her raw rage and emotional connection with mwananchi’s woes wasn’t just presidential — it demonstrated that Mama Lucy has more guts than the entire Coalition Government put together.
