The Europe SADC States Bridge (ESSB) is pleased to inform you that we will be holding the 1st Africa-Arab Agro-Investment Summit from May 25th to May 27th, 2009 in Zanzibar, Tanzania.

 

The focus of the summit will be on investment in agriculture to respond to rising global food prices drawing on the untapped potential in Africa. On the one hand, agriculture is the Back bone of African Economy , employing two-thirds of the continent's 920 million people in a subsistence capacity. On the other hand, the GCC countries are looking for investment opportunities in the agriculture sector. Thus, the summit will facilitate bilateral meetings between government representatives and investors in order to support a dialogue on establishing a strategy on agro-investments. The summit will also draw on agricultural initiatives between the public and private sector, on technical equipment and product innovations to increase productivity and on  to financing for development.

 

It is the ESSB’s belief that this ground-breaking event with its holistic approach to the field of agro-investments in Africa can create mutual benefits facilitating World food security and replacing international food aid.

 

We would sincerely like to invite you to take part in this conference and to mark the dates in your calendar.  Travel to and from Zanzibar as well as hotel accommodation are at the responsibility of the attendees, but special rates have been secured at the Zamani Zanzibar Kempinski Hotel on mentioning the title of the Summit.
