BAGHDAD, - A new report by the International Organization of Migration (IOM) highlights the difficulties faced by the estimated 1.6 million internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Iraq.

“While IDP families continue to return to their places of origin in many places throughout the country, upon arrival they face destroyed homes, lack of basic services, and few employment opportunities with which to support their families.”
It said 14 percent of IDPs had “no access to health care”, and 19 percent could not access the state-run rations scheme, but that the number of new IDPs had been reduced to a “trickle” in the past few months.
