Finally a Kenyan Minister Franklin Bett accuses the US Ambassador in Kenya - Rannerberger is Undermining Kenyan leaders, now told not to set foot in Rift Valley

April 13th, 2009

We salute Bett for being the first minister to tell off the US ambassador who is roaming around in Kenya threatening Kenyan leaders with visa denial to enter his country. Rannerberger is behaving like a small colonial master. Thank God, Kenya is not under his rule. He does all he can to disrespect Kenyan leaders as if he is in Kenya to rule the Kenyan people.

Why are Kenyan leaders, including the Head of state allowing this man to behave as a white master goating black people of Kenya? Or they fear to be refused visa to enter the US? Will Rannerberger now threaten Bett with visa entry cancellation? (API)

According to Standard news, Ikolomani MP Bonny Khalwale met the fury of ODM leaders following remarks he made on the party’s presidential nomination for 2012 elections.

Dr Khalwale said at the weekend that Deputy Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadi should go for the party’s mantle or else he stands to lose his community’s backing.

ODM leaders including Prime Minister Raila Odinga, Mudavadi and Chairman Henry Kosgey were present.

Raila told Khalwale to steer clear of ODM affairs, saying no one knows who will be the party’s next presidential candidate.

"We have a system of picking our presidential candidates. Why are you talking as if we have already picked one?" said Raila.

Khalwale, who had taken the microphone before the Prime Minister, urged Mudavadi not to back anybody else for the top seat.

They spoke at the burial of Mudavadi’s sister, Serah Bugusta, at her home in Mululu village, Sabatia.

"Mudavadi is under pressure from people to vie for the presidency. He might not tell you (Raila), but his people want him to go for the top seat," said Khalwale.

He said Mudavadi should not be seen as being disrespectful to Raila if he too bowed to pressure to vie for the top seat.

Khalwale alluded to Mudavadi as the bull from Western Province, who would be replaced if it does not ‘fight’. But Raila said his party was focused on reforms and not who would be its presidential candidate.

"If you are a bull, we will meet when the time comes. Right now, we are levelling the field," added the Prime Minister.

Long journey

Khalwale also came under fire from Cabinet Ministers Paul Otuoma (Fisheries) and Fred Gumo (Regional Development). Finance Assistant Minister Oburu Odinga dismissed Khalwale’, saying Raila and Mudavadi were on a journey together.

In Transmara at the weekend, Roads Minister Franklin Bett said the wrangles would only end if the PNU wing respected the Prime Minister.

"We are not about to give up and let go. We will fight while in Government until we get our rightful share," said Mr Bett.

Meanwhile, Bett has accused US envoy Michael Ranneberger of undermining some Rift Valley MPs. He was angered by a move to bar MPs from ongoing peace rallies in the region.

"If Ranneberger will not allow me to speak in my Buret constituency, he should not set foot there," said Bett.
